Minky corners

I got hold of this lovely minky animal print fabric to use for corner appliqués
Tiger, Zebra, Leopard and Giraffe

First I tested sewing the applique in minky

After 4 or 5 little samples I started getting the hang of it.

Quilt and appliqué wall hanging for daughters new flat

I wanted to make a housewarming gift for my daughter for her first own home.
Found this idea online and sized it down to a wall hanging.
I actually machine quilted it on my own machine!

First I created the background patchwork  I used earthy colours at ground level then green, pinkish followed by blue.
Then I used fuisible webbing and cut out the heart flowers, placed them in a pleasing design. Stitched around each heart with an embroidery stich and then in green stitched the flower stalks finishing them at different places in the brown soil!
I then added the borders, a red and a flower border.
I then quilted in the ditch in the patchwork avoiding the flowers.
Quilted straight lines in the red border and a on the bias crossed quilt in the flower border. Before using tartan binding  to finish and two broad loops for hanging.
